The term impaired kidney function literally means that your kidneys are impaired, without knowing the exact study it`s hard to say in what way they are impaired. Your kidney`s are a cleaning tool for your blood. The blood is filtered through the vessels in the kidney where waste, excess solutes such as sodium and potassium, and water are excreted. Impaired kidney function means they are not doing their job 100%. It could mean they are not taking out waste or they are taking out too much sodium or water, or they are allowing protein through, just to give an example.
